The steps of our iridite process
Iridite is a chemical surface treatment often applied to aluminum to prepare the part for anodizing or to improve paint adhesion and corrosion resistance. Here are the main steps for performing a typical Iridite treatment:

Step 1
Surface preparation
- Cleaning / degreasing: remove oils, dust, and metal residues.
- Rinsing with water to eliminate impurities.

Step 2
Light etching (optional)
- Sometimes a light alkaline or acid etch is performed to remove the natural oxide layer and uniform the surface.
- Thorough rinsing follows this step.

Step 3
Iridite treatment
- Immersion in the Iridite bath (specific chemical solution based on chromates or modern trivalent treatments according to MIL-DTL-5541 standard).
- Chemical reaction: formation of a thin, self-healing protective film on the aluminum.
- Duration and temperature are controlled according to the product specifications.

Step 5
Final rinsing
- Rinse thoroughly with deionized water to remove any excess chemical.
- The part should be uniformly covered with a conversion coating.

Drying
- Drying with hot air or at a controlled temperature.
- The part is now ready for painting, anodizing, or bonding.
